Preparing for Your Visit

In order to reduce crowding in the waiting room, we ask that you arrive approximately 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment. We also recommend that you complete the necessary patient forms in advance and either email them back to our office or bring them with you. You can download the Patient Forms Packet HERE

What to Expect

FIRST VISIT: Dr. Bannan and his staff believe in being as thorough as possible. Your first visit to our office will likely take the better part of an hour. Expect 1.5 hours for a new cataract evaluation. In addition to allotting the proper amount of time, please also know that Dr. Bannan typically likes to dilate the patient’s pupils on their first visit. It is always best, therefore, to come to your first visit with a friend or family member who can drive you home.

FOLLOW-UP VISITS: Follow-up visits tend to be briefer but always count on spending a half-hour or more with us. After that first visit-pupil dilation is usually recommended yearly. If you are not sure if we plan to dilate your pupils on any given follow-up visit, just call the office in advance and ask us.

COVID-19 PROTOCOL: With the appearance of the COVID-19 virus, we have instituted the practice of calling as many of our patients as possible a day or two before their scheduled visit.  This enables our staff to obtain an updated medical history and carefully explore the reason for your upcoming visit. This practice decreases the total amount of time the patient has to spend in the office. See all of our COVID precautions.

COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

Please be assured that Dr. Bannan and his staff are doing everything possible to decrease your risk of being exposed to COVID-19 at our office. We truly hope that these measures can be phased-out as the pandemic abates. Some of the policies and precautions we have implemented include.

  • Wiping down of all furniture and equipment with germicidal/viricidal wipes between patients.
  • Installation of HEPA air purifiers in every exam room and testing room.
  • All staff members wear masks and practice social distancing.
  • Patients are required to mask. We will provide a mask if you don’t have one.
  • Dr. Bannan has encouraged all staff members to be vaccinated.
  • We encourage all patients to be vaccinated and boosted.
  • Temperatures taken on all staff daily and on every patient.
  • Dr. Bannan insists that any staff with respiratory/COVID symptoms or exposure stay home. This can result in our being short-staffed at times. Please be understanding of this.
  • Meticulous handwashing practiced by staff and doctors.
  • All patients questioned regarding recent COVID symptoms and exposure. Patients are rescheduled if necessary to protect others.
  • Half of chairs removed from waiting room to assure proper social distancing.
  • Unless absolutely necessary, we ask the patient to enter the exam area unaccompanied.
  • Family members encouraged to wait for patient in their cars as opposed to congregating in waiting room.
