Your Visit
Preparing for Your Visit
In order to reduce crowding in the waiting room, we ask that you arrive approximately 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment. We also recommend that you complete the necessary patient forms in advance and either email them back to our office or bring them with you. You can download the Patient Forms Packet HERE.
What to Expect
FIRST VISIT: Dr. Bannan and his staff believe in being as thorough as possible. Your first visit to our office will likely take the better part of an hour. Expect 1.5 hours for a new cataract evaluation. In addition to allotting the proper amount of time, please also know that Dr. Bannan typically likes to dilate the patient’s pupils on their first visit. It is always best, therefore, to come to your first visit with a friend or family member who can drive you home.
FOLLOW-UP VISITS: Follow-up visits tend to be briefer but always count on spending a half-hour or more with us. After that first visit-pupil dilation is usually recommended yearly. If you are not sure if we plan to dilate your pupils on any given follow-up visit, just call the office in advance and ask us.
COVID-19 PROTOCOL: With the appearance of the COVID-19 virus, we have instituted the practice of calling as many of our patients as possible a day or two before their scheduled visit. This enables our staff to obtain an updated medical history and carefully explore the reason for your upcoming visit. This practice decreases the total amount of time the patient has to spend in the office. See all of our COVID precautions.
